About Me

Hello!

My name is Danielle (or Dani works too!).

I'm a mum of 3 lovely boys that keep me very busy. My beautiful boys are also the reason that I was drawn to photography. Before children, I took photos of sunsets and landscapes. I was the proud owner of a Fujifilm 'point and shoot' and I took it everywhere.

In 2012, my husband was away for 6 months. He missed our anniversary, our sons second birthday and my birthday. He bought me the perfect gift to make up for his absence, my first DSLR. I was in love...but I had no idea what I was doing. I switched the camera straight onto AUTO, pop up flash and all.

In August 2013, my third son was born. I decided that since I was on maternity leave, I needed to do something productive (because raising 3 children is too easy, right?). So then began my journey to taking photos. It took me a few months of reading, watching tutorials, asking friends and reading my camera manual to be confident enough to take my camera off AUTO and me tell the camera what to do.

December of 2013, I took my camera out for the first time on manual. I ended up with some seriously underexposed photos, some very overexposed photos and worst of all, out of focus photos too. Feeling a bit deflated, I returned home and uploaded the photos. Out of all the photos I had, around 20 were good enough to keep. The rest were deleted permanently.

Every single day since then, I have picked up my camera and taken photos of anyone, anything, anywhere and everywhere. Low light, high light, back light, front light, inside, outside, cloudy, sunshine... Finally, it all started to click into place and my practice made everything that I had read sink in.

Here I am, just 1 month later and totally enjoying the ride. It is onwards and upwards from here!

Thank you for joining me.
